5 Reasons Why I Fall in Love with Coldplay

Coldplay Albums

Anyone who like pop rock and especially coming from Great Britain, would be familiar with Coldplay, consists of Chris Martin (vocalist & pianist), Jonny Buckland (guitarist), Guy Berryman (bassist), and Will Champion (drummer) -- and of course Phil Harvey as their manager. Although started in 1996 (I was born in 1994 though ðŸ˜€), I must admit that Coldplay just got special place in my playlist when I was in high school (around 2010s) with Viva La Vida -- I mean, every school events have this song! Not excluded the iconic Fix You and Yellow. But only when they hit with Ghost Stories, I fell in love with Coldplay all over again. For me it is so easy to fall for Coldplay. Here is my top 5 reasons why :

1. It's not just about love. It's a life story.

Just like other artists, love theme is not something strange for Coldplay songs. But when you listen more, there are tons of their singles telling about other parts of life or not something romantically involved with. Let's say Paradise, which told us beautifully about dreaming versus struggling in reality. And remember Strawberry Swing? Remind us of someone in the past, maybe a friend or childhood neighbour? Or Trouble in Town, the song which originally for minorities in white people world. Implicitly saying there are still people of color or even hijabis living under white man stares. And one of my favourite from the newest album, Everyday Life is Orphans. Basically this song brings out the story of Syrian war victims and survivors. Yep. Face it, that's life. Personally while I find comforts in love songs, but music about life is mostly intriguing and have deeper meaning.

2. How do you feel? Here's a Coldplay song for you.

When it comes to feelings, just say it and Coldplay will give you one to listen to. During their almost 24 years of performance, Coldplay gave us long listed songs with various ambiance. When you're feeling sad and hopeless, choose Fix You or Cry Cry Cry. Or when you're feeling sorry, play The Scientist. Madly in love? Yellow. Definitely.  Trying to let go of someone? O (Fly On) at your service. Even when you are thinking that your relationship is about going to be an unrequited love, True Love might describe the best. Or one day, when you just miss your dad so much, there's a Daddy song for you.

3. Mindblowing music videos

Up & Up - source : pinterest

One particular reason of how singers or bands get a highlight among their fans, is the quality of their music video. When you go to Coldplay Youtube channel, I can say that it's entertaining and even mind-blowing. The masterpiece is obviously Up & Up. Mixing things up is easy, but mixing beauty things into perspective is cool. This song plus its music video (and actually the whole A Head Full of Dreams album) encourage us to get up and up even when we fall, for life has many opportunities. Moving years back, if you love colors and graffiti, go check on Strawberry Swing and Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. One also consider as the best of them is The Scientist. It's not a difficult job for film maker or editor to make a backwards video. But to actually singing a song with backwards spelling? To bring out the "I'm going back to the start", the video runs smoothly for the backwards motion. But when you think further, the vocalist cannot sing forward when they shot this right? That's why Chris Martin spent a month only to learn how to sing in backwards. Ok, that's a dedication to the song's meaning itself!

4. Chris Martin, the humble king (and so are Guy, Jonny, Will, and Phil)

In a band, the vocalist is mainly first known by the fans among other crews. But for Chris Martin, it is not something he takes for granted. If you watch or read them in several interviews, you'd know that they, not excluded Chris himself, are a bit shy. Surely they appreciate fans so much (it is known that they are one of the best performers in live concert), but fame is not something they praise highly. Even Chris once said that the true fulfillment is not being famous, but to finish an album they thought they couldn't finish. As additional, this is one interview I found him so lovable. And if you recently stream #TogetherAtHome in Coldplay official channel, you could watch yourself how humble he is, literally saying "Hi my name is Chris.. I was supposed to be with the band Coldplay today, from which I come.." :))

5. Everlasting unique music.

As the last reason, I think every Coldplay fans would agree with me. The taste of their music is undeniably cool. Chris' voice is unique and their songs are just easy-listening. Not to mention, the lyrics are genius (also the positive vibes is just nice) while poetic at the same time. Last but not least, for me it's a special character for musicians, that they can perform amazing in and out the records. There's a talent there.
